In 1859, Antonio Salviati, a lawyer in love with the mythical city, decided to revitalize the Venetian glass industry. He created a collection of stemware, bowls, candleholders and vases that triumphed immediately at international exhibitions. He founded a school for artists to learn glass working techniques and Salviati remains one of the most exclusive glass makers. Creating blown glass requires tremendous dexterity, coordination and strength of hand. The maestro shapes it by hand and with special tools, leaving his own mark on each unique piece.
